I Am Legend-God is in Control

The movie "I Am Legend" set a box office record this past weekend with $77 million dollars in sales. I was one of those attending.

The movie stars Will Smith in an adaptation of Richard Matheson's 1954 novel of the same name. He plays a scientist who has survived a man-made virus that apparently killed everyone else on the planet. Well, almost everyone. There are a few survivors and many mutated survivors who look a lot like demons. Will Smith does an excellent job in the film and the movie has received good reviews except that most do not like the ending. I was just the opposite. I was disappointed with the first three quarters and believe that the last 1/4 of the film saved it. You see, God shows up in that last quarter. For most of the film, Smith's character no longer believes in God, but in the last moment of his life, he finally sees God's hand moving. There's a scene in the film where Will Smith's character is rescued from the demons by a lady who has a cross swinging from her mirror and she speaks of hearing God and how it's easier to hear Him since almost all are gone and the world is a quieter place.

I left the theater a bit disappointed in the overall movie but very thankful that God was shown to be in total control.

If you're going to see "I Am Legend", keep in mind it is a bit intense for younger viewers.
