When Your Heart is Broken

by Pastor Holly Johnson

What do you do when someone breaks your heart? What do you do when one of the most precious people in the world to you betrays you.lies about
you.wounds you deeply? There will always be people in your life that will let you down, mistreat you, and break your heart. When times like thatcome, they often seem to envelop us completely. We may feel a sense of hopelessness. During these times, it is your response to the person that hurt you that makes the difference in your life. In adversity, there lies an opportunity - An opportunity to lash out, to fight back, to withdraw, to give up. There is also an opportunity to grow in the Lord and to lean upon Him to carry you through. When you realize that man will inevitably let you down, you have the opportunity to comprehend just how important the Lord is to your life. His Word assures us that "The LORD himself goes
before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" (Deuteronomy 31:8, NIV).
Remember that most of the time when someone betrays you or wounds you, they are acting out of their own hurt. Pray that the Lord will heal
them..restore them. and give them peace. As you pray for them, the Lord can minister healing to you. Remember the Father always knows best. "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" (Luke 6:28,NAS).
